Morty Diamond is a transgender and queer filmmaker, therapist, author, and speaker. He has been called a 'trans elder' since he medically transitioned over 25 years ago. He has published two books about trans relationships, and has directed and produced two feature-length films on the trans experience, one of which was an official selection at the Toronto LGBT Film Festival, the London LGBTIQ+ Film Festival, the Mexico LGBTQ+ International Film Festival, and the New York Queer Experimental Film Festival.
Morty is currently a lecturer in the School of Social Work at San Francisco State and a therapist in private practice. As a therapist, Morty has been serving LGBTQI+ and other marginalized communities for over 13 years. Morty comes with deep social justice and anti-oppression values. His training includes somatics, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectic behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and narrative therapy. Morty cares very deeply about health equity and has a long history working within HIV/AIDS care.
